Why Losanti made the SteakMap list

Losanti prices its steaks by the ounce, and lets you choose the size. As far as SteakMap’s data goes, nowhere else in Ohio does this.

Prime filet mignon is $6.50 an ounce. Prime ribeye is $4.75. Prime New York strip is $4.25. You decide how big a steak you want and pay for exactly that, which quietly solves the problem every steakhouse menu has — that the cut you want and the portion you want are usually welded together by whoever wrote the menu.

It also tells you something about the kitchen. Selling by the ounce only works if someone is cutting to order from whole primals, which means real butchery happening on site rather than portions arriving pre-cut in a vacuum bag.

The pricing, in practice

The ounce pricing also makes the relative value of each cut unusually legible. Filet is the most expensive muscle per ounce by a wide margin and eats the leanest; ribeye sits in the middle and carries the most fat; strip is the cheapest of the three here and the most forgiving. Ordering all three at a table costs less than it would almost anywhere else, and is about as instructive a steak dinner as Cincinnati offers.

What to expect

This is an Italian kitchen underneath the steak program, and the pasta side is not an afterthought — lobster americaine with spaghetti and lobster cream, gnocchi al forno with truffle and pancetta, spaghetti with black truffle and pecorino. There is a steak frites with golden raisin chimichurri and parmesan fries for a lighter version of the same idea.

As published on Losanti’s own menu, August 2026: Prime filet mignon $6.50/oz, Prime ribeye $4.75/oz, Prime New York strip $4.25/oz, all in sizes that vary. Steak and frites is $40.95. Steak additions run from port butter at $3 to Oscar at $15.
