Why Vintage made the SteakMap list
The wine list. Vintage Chophouse has taken the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence three years running — 2023, 2024 and 2025 — which is an outside, verifiable honor rather than a self-awarded one, and it is rare for a resort dining room in northern Michigan.
The setting
The restaurant is inside the Inn at Bay Harbor on Village Harbor Drive, looking out over the inn’s grounds and Lake Michigan just west of Petoskey. Bay Harbor was built on a reclaimed limestone quarry along five miles of shoreline, and the views are the reason the resort exists.
The room itself is stately and deliberately traditional — a chophouse in the old sense rather than a modern steak concept.
The food
The kitchen builds around fresh seasonal ingredients, and prime rib is a house staple — it turns up at lunch as a prime rib French dip. The restaurant also runs a full moon dinner series with an optional wine pairing upgrade, which is the sort of thing worth timing a northern Michigan trip around.
Prices
Vintage Chophouse does not publish its full dinner menu online, so SteakMap has no verified cuts, weights or steak prices to quote. The prime rib French dip is listed at $24. Grade and aging are not published, and we make no claim about either.
